Rothbury Community Church

We had the opportunity to join Dr. Ron Cline of HCJB Global as he visited Rothbury Community Church in Rothbury, Michigan this past Sunday. Equipped with a deep voice and dynamic speaking style, he always delivers a powerful message that is difficult to forget. Then we also had a few moments to share briefly about our ministry.

His message was about how we are living in an exciting period of time, the Harvest, and more to the point, that if we don’t open our eyes and look at the needs around us and take care of those needs, we’ll miss it.

He told a story about a Pastor in South Africa who felt God’s calling to start a radio station, had no idea what that meant but went to the government and asked for permission to start this station. They told him no, ten times he went back to the government and was told no, but on the eleventh time they said yes but with several conditions including that they had to be on air within 30 days. Here Ron made sure to point out that by all accounts, this was impossible, even HCJB Global would have a hard time doing that. So this Pastor hopped on a plane for the United States in search of help. He lands in Miami knowing nobody, grabs a phone book and starts calling churches at random, ends up calling a church that happened to be having their Missions’ week and as it would later turn out, was also having HCJB Global as a guest as well. HCJB Global and this Pastor hook up and form a Christian radio station that is now the number one station is South Africa. But the church didn’t stop there; they started to notice the needs of homeless people around them and started a food kitchen. They then turned their attention to their medical needs and begun a number of clinics and other medical activities in the area. Now this church is reaching hundreds of people with the good news of Jesus Christ and providing valuable services to those in need.

That Pastor and church had, as Ron Cline put it, an eternal view and their eyes open for the Harvest.

Revelation 14:15
Then another angel came out of the temple and called in a loud voice to him who was sitting on the cloud, "Take your sickle and reap, because the time to reap has come, for the harvest of the earth is ripe."

Detour through North Carolina
Sunday, October 14, 2007 @ 4:13 PM
I have big news to share with you today... Sarah and I are moving... but not to Colorado (not yet anyway) but rather to Raleigh, North Carolina.

The company that I work for is closing down their Michigan branch and has asked me to relocate. After much prayer and research, we don't feel that finding new work in Michigan is an option and we need to have a steady income until we can be missionaries with HCJB Global. More importantly than all that, we truly feel that the Lord is leading us to accept the relocation.

It wasn't an easy decision, we know moving far from our friends and family is going to be tough and in many ways it feels counter productive to our goal of working with HCJB Global in Colorado. But I assure you we haven't given up that goal and we are still working to raise the support we need to move out there as missionaries. We continue to ask you to consider partnering with our ministry.

As for the move, we are excited about the path ahead of us. We actually had a chance to fly down to Raleigh the first week of October. North Carolina is a beautiful state, and we are looking forward to the challenges and adventures that await us there.

We would ask that you be praying for us during this transitional time.
Some specific points...

  • that the move will go well and we will adjust quickly to living in Raleigh

  • that we will be able to find comfortable and affordable housing which has thus far been difficult since the cost of living there is a bit higher

  • that we will be able to find a church family where we readily fit in and are able to serve, worship and fellowship

  • that opportunities will open for new ministry partners both here and in North Carolina

  • that God would go before us and continue to guide us through this next chapter of our ministry

Thank you and God Bless.
