Our New Neighbor: Mama Duck
Friday, April 13, 2007 @ 4:24 PM
Our apartment is on the second floor of the building and we have a balcony in the back overlooking a little pond where we love to watch the ducks. This spring, however, one of the ducks has decided to give us a closer view and built her nest in one of my flower pots on the balcony!

When we called the DNR to find out what to do with her, we found out that it isn’t all that uncommon. I suppose it is pretty cozy and safe from predators, complete with a roof from the balcony above ours! We were afraid the ducklings would die falling from the second story trying to get down to the pond, but it turns out they are pretty resilient little guys and have been known to survive falls from ten stories high!

At any rate, she came for a few days and laid three eggs, then disappeared right before Easter. This morning I was opening the blinds to let the sunshine in and there she was! After six days I had given up looking or expecting her to return. What an exciting surprise that was! With the cold and snow and her long absence, the eggs that are there will not survive, but we are hoping she will lay a few more. We would love to have some ducklings!

Sarah and I wanted to wish all of you a very happy Easter and to give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ for dying on the cross and then defeating death so that we could have forgiveness for our sins and eternal life in Heaven.

God Bless,

Last month a segment about HCJB Global was shown on CBN Christian World News. It highlights HCJB Global's new vision for radio planting and features an interview with the mission's president, Dave Johnson. It is a great explanation of what the mission is doing as it moves into the future as the Voice and Hands of Christ around the world. This is the ministry we are so passionate about and can't wait to be a part of!
