Missions Presentation -- Walloon Lake, MI -- June 10
Thursday, May 31, 2007 @ 10:56 AM
We will be sharing a Missions Moment at Walloon Lake Community Church on Sunday, June 10th, 9am and 10:45am. Also, Dennis will be speaking at the Men’s Breakfast the previous Saturday morning (June 9th, 8-10am). This is an exciting opportunity for us, since this was Dennis’ home church growing up, so we are looking forward to visiting with our church family at WLCC.

If you are able to be there, we would love to see you! (map) In addition to speaking, we will be available to visit with you by our display table after the service.

Finally, please pray that we would be able to clearly communicate about our ministry and that God would be working to draw more people to supporting our work with HCJB Global.

The Ducklings Have Hatched!
Sunday, May 20, 2007 @ 7:45 PM
For those of you that saw our previous post, we have had a mama duck nesting on our porch this spring. For the past month she has been almost constantly sitting on her eggs, and we have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of her ducklings. And finally, yesterday our four little ducklings hatched! Since I was out of town for the day, Dennis went crazy with the camera taking all sorts of pictures of the little guys peeking out from under mama.

This morning, it was time to leave the nest. Mama jumped off the balcony and the ducklings one by one plopped down behind her. Well, except for one. I guess he was a bit scared and ran around on the balcony instead. By the time he finally jumped, the rest of them were not in sight so he started running the wrong way! With the help of a neighbor, we tracked him down and chased him towards his family. The final step was for him to run out across the open grass and he made it quite clear he was not going to do that. So I picked him up and took him over to where they were. (He was so soft and fuzzy I didn’t want to put him down!)

The family was reunited and we have been keeping an eye on them all day. They seem to be doing well so far, and we can’t wait to watch them grow up in our little pond :)

HCJB GLobal Hands: Clean Water Projects
Tuesday, May 15, 2007 @ 3:27 PM
While HCJB Global Voice is working hard to preach the gospel all over the world, HCJB Global Hands is working to demonstrate the gospel by helping to meet the physical needs of the people. Here is a video from the mission sharing about the clean water projects taking place in remote communities of Ecuador.

While I was in Ecuador I was able to visit one such community in the Andes Mountains. Many people, especially children, die from diseases they have gotten from contaminated water. Because they don’t know any better, and they don’t have any other options, they often bathe in the same water they use for drinking and cooking. HCJB Global Hands is working to educate the people and facilitate the development of clean water supplies.

Well, it’s been about three weeks since our last blog post. Sorry for the gap, it’s been a rough couple of weeks, and I mean it.

To begin with, Sarah and I had a major decision to make about what our living arrangement was going to be for the next year. Many prayers, and cartons of ice cream later, we have decided to stay where we are at. We praise the Lord for giving us wisdom and a like mind, so that we can both be happy with the decision.

Beyond that it has been absolutely crazy at work. A project that I have been deeply involved in for the past six months is finally being released to our clients. The finishing touches have kept me very busy.

All that to say; it’s been the kind of month you’re just glad to have over. Jesus really carried us through this one, and we want to thank everyone who has lifted us up in prayer over this past month, because we really needed it.

We did have one really cool thing happen to us this past month. During a trip to Indiana we met a Christian financial advisor who has offered to advise us, free of charge. Praise the Lord!! It is such a blessing to have a likeminded fellow Christian to help with our financial decisions going forward. We want to be good stewards with our money and this will be a big help in doing so.

God Bless,
