It has been a crazy week!! Putting aside our normal daily work responsibilities and commitments to our local church, we have been hard at work trying to get everything in order for our ministry. Contacting people and churches in an attempt to raise funds is only the beginning of it. There are prayer cards and brochures that have to be designed and printed, a new dedicated laptop for our ministry that had to be purchased (ok... we liked that part ;) ), weekly reports that have to be filled out for HCJB, and much much more. Not to mention just basic tasks like laundry and dishes. Putting it altogether is quite overwhelming. We know that we cannot accomplished all the tasks above by our own strength, but that we need to trust that the Lord will provide for all our needs. I will be honest though, giving to God all of our daily challenges can be tough. When I look at this seemingly impenetrable mountain of tasks before Sarah and I, it scares me. I think why my God, surely there is someone better fit than myself to be used. Someone who is a better fund raiser, a better time manager, better at social networking, or just a better Christian. But when I start thinking down these lines, I have to stop and remember the assurances God has already given us that we are following his plan, and that if we are truly following his will for our life, then he will provide for the needs that we have. I won't claim it to always be easy, but I trust in the Lord my God, and I am excited to see how he is going to use Sarah and I. May God bless you and keep you safe,
HCJB has given us some rough numbers for our financial support goals. We are looking for individuals and churches to commit to partnering with our ministry on a monthly basis. The required amount below is the minimum required each month to serve with HCJB. REQUIRED: $5,140/mo RECOMMENDED: $6,168/mo On top of this we are also seeking one time gifts to help cover our moving expenses and other expenses to get us started. We will let you know when we have a better idea of what those other expenses are going to be. Out of every donation that comes in 10% is taken off the top for Administration and 14.5% is taken off for our Medical Plan. Everything else gets split up between our various accounts including our Housing Allowance, Ministry Fund, Retirement, & our Salary. Please pray about partnering with us financially and let the Lord lead in your decision. To donate online please click here!! God Bless,
We have found that some common questions are being asked, and over the next couple of weeks I am going to attempt to answer some of them for you. Q: Why are two software developer’s going on the mission’s field? Shouldn’t you be trying to share the gospel with someone rather than staring at a computer monitor all day? A: First of all, it is the responsibility of all Christians everywhere to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not just missionaries. So by no means would software development exclude Sarah or myself from telling people the good news. Second, people serving in a technical support role are highly important to all missions work. The doctors, radio programmers, and trainers that carry out the worldwide ministry of HCJB World Radio would be unable to do their job without the support staff that develop and maintain the systems that these people use every day. Having the technical skill sets that we do, Sarah and I are in a unique position to help provide these missionaries the critical tools that they need to continue the work that God has called them to. ------ If you have any additional questions please feel free to e-mail Sarah or myself.
Welcome to our blog! This is the blog of Dennis and Sarah Crissman. We are software developers that are in the process of becoming missionaries with HCJB World Radio in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We were just recently accepted and due to an urgent need in Colorado, we are trying to be on the field some time during the first quarter of 2007. Needless to say, our start on ‘the road to colorado’ has been trying to get from 0 to about 80 mph as fast as we can! Our goal for this blog is to be a tool to communicate with our ministry team—those currently supporting us, those who may support us in the future, and those who just want to know what’s going on with us. We want to be able to tell you about our needs, prayer requests and praises, let you know what we are doing on this journey and update you on our progress. We plan to post to our blog at least once a week—with everything moving so quickly, there is definitely plenty to share. So, check back as often as you can! We do want to point out a couple ‘features’ of this blog. To the left is a link to read more about us as well as links to email both of us. On the right are some links to things pertaining to our plans. Feel free to browse what we have and wherever the links might take you. We will try to add more as time goes by. Thanks for visiting us at our headquarters on the web! We look forward to this adventure and we are excited that you want to join us in it!
