It’s true; Sarah and I would probably both have very successful careers if we stayed here in Grand Rapids. And the truth is, we both have awesome jobs that will be very difficult to leave. Believe me; we both know that the unemployment rate in Michigan is outrageous, and that many of our friends and family have been directly affected. So it is understandable why many of you might be confused and maybe even offended that we would want to leave two perfectly good jobs when we don’t have to.

Know that this decision is not made out of ungratefulness or unhappiness. We have both known for a long time that we wanted our work as software developers to be meaningful and to make a direct impact on the world around us. As Christians, we want to use the skills God has given us to help spread the good news about Jesus Christ.

And so, although it may seem like we are giving up much, we know that God has bigger plans for us. We are grateful for this opportunity to help build the kingdom of God, and are excited to see all the challenges and adventures God has in store for us as missionaries.
